About this perfume
Argos Fall of Phaeton is a bold and powerful Eau de Parfum inspired by the dramatic mythology captured by Peter Paul Rubens. This fragrance pairs bright citrus, fiery spices, smoldering woods, and deep resins to tell the story of Phaeton’s rise and fall, creating an intense and unforgettable olfactory experience.
Fall of Phaeton draws from the dynamic Flemish Baroque style of Rubens, whose paintings emphasized movement, emotion, and divine spectacle. In the ancient myth, Phaeton, determined to prove his divine lineage, convinced his father Helios to let him guide the sun god’s chariot across the sky. Losing control of the fiery steeds, he scorched the earth in some places and froze it in others. To restore balance, Zeus struck him down with a thunderbolt, sending him crashing toward the earth in a blaze of tragic beauty.
Rubens vividly portrayed this moment of chaos, depicting Phaeton falling from the chariot as the seasons and celestial beings react in terror. The scene reflects courage, recklessness, and the cost of daring beyond mortal limits.
This fragrance channels the heat, drama, and emotional force of that myth. It opens with bright bursts of bergamot and lemon paired with cardamom, pink peppercorn, and fresh ginger. The heart reveals smoldering notes of labdanum, lavender, and agarwood that echo the burning chariot and swirling sky. The base settles with rich musk, animalic leather, warm tonka bean, and vanilla for a deep and intoxicating finish.
